Question : I just noticed that my newly aquired Colt Army has 5 missing nipples , got it at Collectors Frirarms in Texas for around $1800 , they said nothing about missing cylinder nipples and when I wrote them back they only said that they cant help me and to look for parts on the Internet !! How nice of them Sad

Anyone know where I can get ORIGINAL nipples for a 1861 mfg Colt Army revolver ?

Ouch .. you would think for $1800 that they would be a little more helpfull.

Well I found out that its 99.9% un-likely that I would ever see ORIGINAL nipples (in working order ) on an original Colt Army in anything but NRA Excellent condition , packed away in an attic for 100 years .
this is because the nipples are the first thing to deteriorate and are often replaced over time (I should have known that ) .
So I dont feel so bad replacing them with new replacements but Im still peed over the lack of customer service and poor attitude after shelling out $1800 ! They charged me $35 to ship the gun UPS Ground from Texas with no more wrapping but a little bubble plastic .
Ill remember that when I buy another piece from ANOTHER vendor .

I fired it this past weekend and it shoots just fine (didn't blow it up ) .
No picture of steel backstrap but the ser # matches .
Looks like maybe some small parts in trigger /firing mech may be replacements but I couldn't tell for sure .
