How much property needed to shoot?

Ok. Not sure if this is in the right section but my question is,
Im looking to buy a home and i want to be able to shoot on my own property. What are the requirements in this state? I know that you need to have a backstop but what else? Acres?
Advice wanted and links to laws, regulations and ordnances.

As long as it's recreational. You only need to be shooting in a safe direction, and your town can't have an ordnance on discharging firearms.

Correct me if I'm wrong please!

Isn't there also a regulation dictating how close adjoining dwellings can be?

I believe that's only regarding Hunting last time I checked

You need to check with the town. Even if they don't have a law forbidding the discharge of firearms, they may have other laws. I know one town in CT says you must have at least 10 acres.

I used to do limited inside shooting (mostly a few test rounds here and there) at the old place in Bakersville. I would tell the immediate neighbors not to panic if they heard a muffled gunshot occasionally.
As box full of newspapers and magazines was more than adequate to stop .38/.357 and .44/.45s. Just don't miss the box or let the stuffing get too shot up.
In North Stonington, most neighbors shoot and I hear gunfire from every direction. My folks have five acres or so, but I shoot into the backyard using a giant pine tree and a steel plate as my backstop. The unattached garage is my muffler between me and the house. Cast loads aren't much louder than a .22 LR and they vaporize upon hitting the steel for the most part. If I shoot at 300-400 feet, I will be getting within 100 feet of the roadway, but no one bothers you here.
Needless to say, I didn't have this luxury on Saint John Street in New Haven (although gunfire was almost as common). I did pop a few blanks in the SKS and the police didn't show up... so much for the ShotSpotter gunshot-detection system in the city. I guess you need to fire off the whole magazine or perhaps you need to hold the gun sideways, like it comes in the box!

That was Plymouth. Friend of mine has a few acres up against state forest land, and see of his neighbors shoot. But his closest neighbor is anti gun, and he doesn't have as much land as everyone else around him, so he's screwed.

And I hear shots occasionally from the Mashantucket reservation, but it's just gangsta fire and the police don't really care. I guess they can fire where ever and whomever they want.
