Does anyone know who might repair a broken engine block (bolt flange for right engine mount) reasonably?
That is, for less than an engine replacement...

Is this an Aluminum or cast iron block?

It attracts a magnet, so I'd assume the latter.

I have not seen anyone have success in repairing cast iron. I have done some using a high nickel brazing but the results were not very good. The heat and dis-similar metals just caused more cracks and the finished part was not very strong and broke again.

Unless there is a new process out there that I don't know about then you may be facing an expensive repair.

Just time to replace it, I guess. I don't have the means to work on it and labour will be too much to bear for me.

I have heard of furnace welding. When I was racing my engine sponsor approximated that to weld a cast iron cylinder head for another racer. The head was highly modified and worth big bucks. He put the cylinder head into a gas grill to heat it. It held up for the rest of the season.

Interesting stuff.

pre-heating stops the weld from cooling down too fast and causing cracks also

Perhaps if you find someone to do the repair you can pay with a cheque.
