I didn't care much for the wood or sights on my Marlin 336. But it is a handy, solid and great shooting rile. I decided to give it an *update....
This is how I got it:
Here is the update:
-Weaver Classic V3 1-3x / Grand Slam rings
-Mossy Oak leather sling
-Allen Co. butt stock pouch/cartridge holder
-OD Green re-finish

If you wanted me to refinish it, all you had to do was ask....

Looks just fine (so didn't the original wood)!
Have fun, M! (I can hear your daughters yelling: Paw, Paw! ...starring Chuck Conners!)

I just got it back from the range...I luv shooting this rifle
It sighted in well and ran as solidly as ever. Its a .30-30 and as setup it makes a well balanced do everything rifle, which is what I wanted. That and I can still find 30-30 ammo at wally-world

You two just need to get up to date and with the times, grandpa's!
What do you mean by that?
They are likely using smokeless powder in those .30-30's!

I'm talking about how they prefer the wood look over painting.
