So I made the comparison to CT range prices and seattle range prices today. The owner deleted my posts. <shrug> It is his page, then proceeded to message me that I can not compare east coast to west coast. That doing so is ridiculous. I responded that having lived recently on both coasts I see no real difference in most things as far as prices per unit. Why should a gun range be any different?

Out of curiosity I started a thread on sig forum to see what various people across the US are spending for range fees. It can be read here :

well it seems i am not the only one to raise a stink about this today. He has changed his website and added the following to the gold and silver packages
Priority use of our state-of-the-art climate-controlled shooting lanes
Minimum one hour free range time per visit
Unlimited range use if there is no wait
this is far more appealing, though it is not what he reiterated in to me in his response to me on facebook.

I know i know i moved to the freakin gold coast where even maids shit golden bricks.

You could join New Departure in Wallingford (outdoor range) for approx $110-130 per year or find a private club closer to you.

That is certainly an option do they have a website?
I am looking for an outdoor range also

That is absurd. I occasionally work in the Stamford/Norwalk area and I'm aware how absurd things are down there sometimes. But seriously, that is absurd. $45/hr?! Is that the member price and it's even higher for the public? Honestly I hope he fails terribly. Even in an area like that, that's just raping people. For $6500 per year you're better off paying a mortgage on some junk property you can shoot on.

6500$ a year.
Holy cow, maybe its only for millionares?
Those prices weeeeeellllllll beyond my spending budget. Id rather spend that money on firearms.

I think the original price list was a typo. When you go to the site now, the annual is $500. Just a little different.

How many people here could afford $500 a year for membership to a club?

Who can afford to do anything these days? But I digress.

WLOPA is $549 the first year and $199 after that. You get access to Trap and Skeet fields, 75ft pistol range, a 100yard rifle range and seasonal hunting on 54 acres. Not to mention good people to shoot with and a youth friendly environment.

Ranges are open 10am until half hour before sunset, 7 days a week so one can shoot when convenient.

Should I spend that much? Probably not, but for the cost of 1 handgun a year I get some fun that would cost me a lot more if I was just going to an indoor range. I usually shoot for 2 to 3 hours several time a month not including their service rifle, silhouette and plate matches. So do the math.

Find a club that is in your area that offers what you want and join. I am way ahead dollar wise by belonging to WLOPA.

Quite a few, given the amount spent on new weapons and ammo here. More importantly, this is on the border of Greenwich. I'm guessing they won't have much of a problem filling memberships.

Spend $25 for an hour of fun at a public indoor pistol range, and during the year you would quickly hit the $500 mark -- without all these amenities. WLOPA is the perfect club for me, but unless you live fairly close it's a long haul to Wolcott. Other private clubs in Fairfield County have even closed their waiting lists.

To be honest, if the facilities are really nice, $500 isn't bad.

Ledyard with a 400yd range, pistol, skeet etc is $150 a year.
Bell City 200yd, covered rifle and pistol range, indoor 22 - $150 (approx)
Capitol City Rocky Hill indoor pistol range - $150
WLOPA is $200

Why wouldn't you join a club where you have a say in the way the club is run as opposed to a private company?

What does this place have that is worth $500?
