A flash hider is designed to reduce the flash of the firearm. A brake will control the rise of the muzzle.

Brakes tend to be closed as the front with the hole the slightly larger than the round.

Was going get one of these for my 10/22. I know its purely esthetic but I like the side bars to emphasize the sight. And either a flash hider or muzzle brake is legal with a pre pan, right?
