Went to newington gun exchange the other night and overheard one of the salesmen saying as of April 1st any private sale will have to go through a gun dealer and that the cost of transfers are going to be going up !
Has anyone else heard about this ?

Not true!
Private transfers will need a call to DPS for a xfer #. Just the same as private xfers of pistols have been handled for years.

4/1/2014 and beyond you will need a permit to buy a long gun whether privately or through a FFL.
BEFORE 4/1/2014 long guns can still be purchased privately or through a FFL.
Private sales must be called in for authorization # NO 2 week wait.
Through a FFL the 2 week wait still applies.
Any doubt CALL DPS and confirm.
