Bad primer removal question

I'm new to reloading, actually haven't reloaded yet, but i have my press set up and have been removing the old primers.

I've been using once fired brass that i picked up at the range. Most of the primers come out easily. However, every so often part of the primer appears to get stuck in the case. Since it's the outside of the old primer that gets stuck, there is no way to remove the rest of the primer. So theres no way to press in a new primer.

I've been saving these cases in hopes that someone can help me resolve this issue.

Sounds like you have some crimped Military primers that you need to ream the primer pocket and remove crimps.

Older corroded primers can pop apart like that. Unless you're hard-pressed to find replacement brass, toss it. It can be cut out, but is it worth the effort for a 2-8 cent piece of brass? Your call...

Thanks for all the input!!! Since they're just run of the mill 9mm cases, I'll probable just toss them. A reamer sounds like it might do the trick.

I've got to find me some primer and powder and heads, so that I can get to reloading.

Silver City did have some powders. ($22-$27/pound). Also, some Hornady 124gr HP-XTPs and 115gr FMJ, but at full retail ~$22 a box.
Grouse Perch (Old Saybrook) has new arrivals of powder and Winchester primers $30 and $60 respectively...ouch!

Ron's Guns (East Lyme/Flanders) has a fair variety of powders ($23-$30 a pound), bullets and even Winchester and Wolf primers, albeit at $50/1000. Not every size and description, but they have some. Store closed through the 29th; on vacation.

I would just throw out the brass with the half stuck primer. you can always pick up more. 9mm brass is everywhere.

Keep a junk bucket for bad brass, you can always drop it off at the scarp yard once it is full.
