Anyone have any experience with this old round? Almost none of the current load data books even list it. Found some data online to at least give me a general idea where to start. I have some .312 90gr JHC that I think will work, though not optimal. I want to go really low pressure, just a few steps above squib, since these will be for a 90yr old top break revolver.

From what I could find most people are using 93gr Lyman cast round nose. With 1.0 to 1.5gr of bullseye

I think I have some old factory LRNs; I'll have to look through my collection.
From Hodgdon:
85 GR. LEAD Winchester 231 .314" .930" 1.4 595 9,500 CUP

From Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook (1973):
"For top break models (in good condition), use the suggested starting loads only... ...slug your barrel before reloading and size your cast bullets to as near groove diameter as possible."
Otherwise...
A) Lyman #311252 77gr LRN COL: .860"
B) Lyman #313249 84gr LRN COL: .860"

Powder A/B (Sug. starting loads):
Bullseye 1.1gr / 1.0gr
Red Dot 1.4 / 1.3
Green Dot 1.5 / 1.4
Unique 1.6 / 1.5
700X 1.3 / 1.2
PB 1.4 / 1.3

FWIW, I have means to cast the #311008 (115gr) and the #311410 (130gr), but they're a bit on the heavy side for the .32 S&W (although I've used the 311008 for .32 S&W Long).

Yeah, I dont want to go too heavy. I think 85-90gr was the most common back then. Like I said, I have some 90gr jacketed at .312, if lead is .314 I would think .312 should be pretty close for jacketed.

I havent decided yet, but I was thinking starting at around 1.0-1.1gr of unique under that bullet.

Being it's a 90yr old top break pocket revolver, I just want enough ommph to go through paper at 25ft or so.
