I just traded a 96 Swede for a model 8 rem. in .25 Rem. which
I knew 0.0 about. Took it home for the usual take apart, and cleaning. You could eat off this thing. It was dry as we worry more about grit than rust up here. I shot up the box of ammo that I could find, and it's a hoot to shoot. the rifle is great but ammo is a whole other game. I could only find two dealers for brass and ammo. the nearest one had ammo and the brass was $1.50 ea.. I ordered two boxes of ammo and one was backordered. The second one had no ammo ( that wasn't too bad) and 30 rem. brass at $38 per hundred. So I have 200 brass coming from them. Got my dies , so all I need is information on loads. The only loads I have found are for powders that are either not made any more, or have changed formulation(N203 Vs N203 B)
Does anyone here have load data for modern powders, or hunt with a .25 remington?

I live in the heart of what Time mag. called" the empty corridor", or as the owner of the local grocery store says" where you have to drive 60 miles to buy a pair of socks". You don't see a lot of old rifles that aren't lever action.I thought these rifle would be seen more often in your part of the country.I do thank you for your help, and hope springs eternal, someone else might pick this up.

According to this link you can use the same load data as .25-35 win: http://www.chuckhawks.com/25_remington.htm
The .25 Remington, introduced in 1906, is simply Remington's rimless version of the .25-35 Winchester. Remington designed a line of rimless cartridges that duplicated the ballistics of the popular .25-35, .30-30, and .32 Special Winchester cartridges for use in their bolt action, pump, and autoloading rifles. Pumps and autoloaders that load via a box magazine feed best with rimless cases.

The Remington .25, .30, and .32 rimless cartridges are functionally identical to their Winchester counterparts and have the same case capacity. They are, however, dimensionally different, and are not interchangeable with their Winchester counterparts.

Reloading data for the Winchester cartridges may be used for the equivalent Remington rimless cartridge without alteration. .25-35 data is thus also applicable to the .25 Remington, as most reloading manuals that cover the two cartridges state.
If this is correct (and I'm still upstairs on the laptop, not in the basement were all my reloading books are) then you should have plenty of options with common small caliber rifle powders like varget.
