Anything to do with rifle shooting, plinking, target, benchrest etc

Maybe I should phrase the question, Where can I get one? I've been interested in some time in this glorious WWII era rifle, and now that I've become caught up on my finances, I'm growing in interest in getting one. However, I have no idea where to look. Are there occasional gun shows in the state where some of these might crop up, or even a brick and mortar shop to visit (ideally in the Wallingford area, but don't let that stop suggestions)?

In addition, any advice on what to look for in a rifle that's assuredly going to have some age to it, with a side of wear and tear would be appreciated.

Lastly, is ammo hard to find for this rifle, or is it of a somewhat standardized size?

Thanks for any insight!

Garand ammo is .30-06...you can get it anywhere and everywhere..now with that solved...I think I saw several(carbines too) at Newington Gun Exchange.

You could join a CMP affiliated club or the Garand Collectors Association http://www.thegca.org/ both options will let you but Garands from the CMP http://www.odcmp.com/

CMP rifles are cheaper than the stores etc.

You can get ammo there too.

CMP is your cheapest route, but i know newington gun exchange has a few, just be weary of the muzzle wear on them

Unfortunatley that does not work .. as the results are tied to your internet session.
