I saw a .357 max for sale for the first time the other day. Looked into the history of it a bit which was interesting. Seems that its life span was shortened because of flame cutting when using light bullets. Apparently using 180+ grain bullets was the solution, but the cartridge never went anywhere.

Anyone on here own one of these?

I shot one a few times but the Max loads weren't that much hotter than a good 357Mag load. The brass is hard to come by, factory ammo is virtually non-existent, and the only positive is that you can shoot 357Mag and 38Spc out of it. The brass looks like a longer 38/357 case. It might be good for revolver hunting but not much more than a novelty caliber.

Pretty sure it was a Dan Wesson. I believe it came with a few hundred .357 max casings as well. Probably would be a cool gun to experiment with.

I read that the cartridge should be able to push a 180 grain bullet at 125 grain .357 mag velocity.

Pretty much gone into obscurity. There may be some silhouette shooters that shoot this caliber.
A 460 or 500 S&W should be able to top those numbers, if that's the goal.
I come across reloads and components now and again, but I don't reload it. I suppose you could doctor some up with a .357 Magnum die set adjusrted accordingly.
Same would go for the 9mm, 10mm and 45 Magnums, too. How many people shoot these?
