Woman killed while hugging off-duty police officer

DETROIT (WXYZ/CNN) - A Detroit police officer has been placed on administrative duty after his gun discharged, killing a woman at a party over the weekend.
Police said Adaisha Miller embraced off-duty officer Isaac Parrish from behind while the two were dancing.
According to the city's police chief, Miller managed to trigger the holstered gun on the right side of Parrish's waist. The gun discharged into her chest.
"All apparent preliminary investigation indicates a very tragic and unfortunate incident but nothing intended at all," said Detroit Police Chief Ralph Godbee.
Members of Miller's family are questioning the police account of what happened.
A cousin who attended the party with Miller said Miller would not have been dancing with Parrish because she didn't know him.
She said Parrish was told it was Miller's birthday and the two hugged, which is when the gun fired.
The Detroit Police Internal Affairs department is investigating.
