My wife got me a nice beginner metal detector for xmas. Tried it out a few times so far and it's worked great! It is a Bounty Hunter Pioneer 202.

Curious to see if anyone else on the board is into it. Maybe share a few known good spots?

I have one of these but never really used it other than to locate the pins on a property line.

Same thing with my moms house in Bridgeport. Her house was built in the 1890's. She has 3 wells and a buried concrete room on the property. No access to the room, other than to dig it up, to really know what is in it. All around there used to be farm land. Once the ground starts to thaw out some more I'll be going over to check the yard.

The metal detector helped out a lot that day !

Next time we do a farm range trip, bring it along. It's almost a waste trying to find your brass in the grass...
...it should be more effective than feeling with barefeet.

Garret makes some nice detectors and their pointers are top notch! I wanted the Garret 250 to start with, but my wife over heard me talking about the Bounty Hunter so that's what she got me. Still works really well and it is pretty damn accurate as far as telling what metals are in the ground. It was about $40 cheaper than the Garret but it works just as well IMO.

I think I would start pulling out the little hair I have left digging up all the brass.

This is the one I have. It comes with the hand held pointer, carry bag, finds pouch and a decent plastic shovel.
Very pleased with it.

EDIT: The pointer works well too!
