Good Reason For Mass Exodus From Connecticut

One need only absorb the starkly contrasting messages conveyed by two recent headlines in The Courant to understand 1) how empty are the words of Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and the legislators who claim to be engaged in efforts to rein in state spending; and 2) why the citizens of high-tax, unaffordable Connecticut will, in droves and at their first opportunity, take their incomes and assets elsewhere, dooming Connecticut's future as an appealing state in which to live, work and retire.

On the front page Sunday, above the fold, was a story about most of us: "Laboring Harder For Not Much More" [Sept. 1]. On Saturday was a Jon Lender column about those who live off the tax dollars we send to the state: "Raises For 24 UConn Leaders." These "UConn Leaders" will also be getting health insurance for life and pensions, too.
