Guy has a permit, and was doing nothing wrong. About the only bad thing he did is apparently he refused to comply with officer's commands when they went to arrest him. I can cetainly understand not wanting to comply with an unlawful request.
Anyone know for certain if the theater was posted?

They have managed to create the fear of guns they wanted, this will only get worse folks.

And the courts have already ruled that the act of legaly carrying a firearm in an open holster is not grounds for detention or arrest in itself.

So if the theater is posted, he can be asked to leave or risk an arrest for trespassing. Not have a gun pointed at him and be forcefully arrested.
Police violation of the law 1

"Police entered Theater 1 and asked the patrons to raise their hands and file out of the theater. As they exited, they were patted down and escorted outside"
Police violation of the law 2

If I was there and carrying or not, I would have not complied with the "illegal order" either. And I would actually be down right pissed some punk ass piece of crap was pointing a LOADED gun at me for the "crime" of attending a movie. The police have never made a mistake and shot an innocent person, right?

4th ammendment anyone? everyone in the theater has a Rights violation law suit.

More proof of everything I have been saying about the police, they are scared of a citizen with a gun, they will shoot anyone they fear(that is US folks) as long as "all the officers are safe" and WE have given them permision by allowing this behavior.

The only way to stop this crap is to have mass open carry attendences and put up a show of FORCE, yes I said FORCE, this is our country and we will not allow ourselves to pushed around by a bunch of punks with badges and guns any longer.

I dare any police officer to publicly state they would refuse to obey an illegal order.

I know you won't, because if you were to come out in public as a police officer and say you would not obey an order that violated the rights of the citizens, you would either lose your job or be in fear that those words would come back to bite you if you ever got in court.

This would have to be a HUGE event to cover a good majority of PD's!

Count me in, if we can get the ball rolling.

Lets get people together, pick one department ever 2 weeks or so, notify the media we are doing it, and go.

I have my sign "Open carry is a right, not a crime"

*And as of today, I am OPEN CARRY only*

Nothing like a lawyer playing the cops, and they fell for it, hook, line and sinker.

He is going to be a rich man.

AND if he is really smart, I see a class action lawsuit against the city for the civil rights violations when they searched everyone in the entire theatre.

Confirmed there was no sign of any sort regarding "no firearms" or anything of the sort. Absolutely absurd what happened there.

Im really sick of this guy...

At a 4 p.m. press conference Wednesday, Mayor John DeStefano and Police Chief Dean Esserman stood behind the cops and condemned Hwang’s behavior. DeStefano said people shouldn’t carry guns into dark movie theaters.

“Just because something is legal, doesn’t make it right,” DeStefano said.

The mayor called for a citywide discussion about gun control. He called for a change in state law to let New Haven ban guns in certain public spaces, such as theaters and churches.

“Do we need guns in theaters? Do we need guns at Batman?” DeStefano asked.

“We don’t expect anyone to go into a theater with a gun—or into a bar—or into a church, a mosque or a temple,” DeStefano said. “We ought to reflect on some behaviors that are clearly legal,” but that do not reflect the “values” by which New Haveners want to live.

Fine mr mayor, I want a 24 hour police protection detail, just like yours, then I won't feel the need to carry a gun.

Until that time, why not try "crime control"

Yep, open carry protest in that a** wipes front yard

This Douchbag has the balls to say " just because its legal it doesnt make it right"
UH Excuse me, doing something that is legal is called being a law abiding citizen.
Its funny how the priviliged with 24 hour police escorts like to make up their own laws and feel that only what they think is right.

Why doesnt this douche go hang out in the ghethos in NewHaven and tell the thugs face to face that what they do is not right.

Typical person with authourity going after the easy targets.

Ive lived in some bad areas and yet never saw checkpoints for seatbelts, speeding, etc
You know where your gonna see check points?
On routes where people go to WORK, WhY?

Easy targets, thats why.

I don't think this stuff is ever good for us. It just agitates things even more and gives these twits reason to blather on about nothing consequential like it means something (that is what liberals do best).

I agree that open carry should be fine, but I'm just not into scaring the sheep, and I don't frankly see any advantage to it. (I've been carrying concealed for twenty years).

I really don't think that the cops are our enemy either (except for the liberal politicians among them). Most of the cops I've met in my town are straight up guys just trying to do their job (which admittedly much of the time is collecting taxes). Don't forget these guys aren't the ones who wrote the asinine codes they have to try to enforce or the SOP's that don't allow them to actually be effective. Many of these guys are retired military and real patriots.

I realize I'm sticking my neck out here, but we really have to remember who our enemies are and be careful not to add potential friends to the list.

Just my $.02

As soon as these guys stand up and tell the one that are writing the asinine code that they aren't going to abuse the citizens any more and act like little tax collector pawns, I will consider them stand up guys, "just doing your job" is an excuse for going along with crap you know isn't right and doing it anyway.
