Legislative Session Begins January 9th

CCDL is preparing for the legislative session. We are certain to see numerous gun control bills introduced, and we must be willing to make both the effort and sacrifice to prove that law abiding gun owners are not a problem to society. More laws would only restrict the rights and freedoms of law abiding citizens, not the criminals. Join us January 8th at our General Meeting in Middletown.

General Meeting Format:
CCDL General Meeting
44 Maynard St
Middletown, CT 06457
January 8th 7:00pm-9:00pm
This is our General Meeting with a modified format and as always this is open to CCDL Members.

Due to the immediate threat of impending legislation we will conduct an overview and brief workshop focused to help members that may have missed this last month, and members attending a CCDL meeting for the first time.

Legislative Links
For the upcoming legislative session, there will be some newly elected state representatives and state senators. In addition, be aware of any redistricting that may affect you. Below are the links to your legislators. Since Connecticut swears in and seats legislators on January 9th, we are still represented by legislators that were elected in 2010. Please book mark the links below.

If your State Rep and/or State Senator is still seated after the 2012 election, please feel free to contact them using the above links and ask them to oppose
1) Magazine capacity limits-
2) Additional bans on existing and lawful firearms-
3) Any additional gun control measures.
Remind them that criminals DO NOT follow laws to begin with, and any new laws will harm only law abiding citizens.

Please be polite and courteous when communicating with legislators.

It is the official position of CCDL to oppose any new gun control measures including bans on magazines, or certain types of semi-automatic firearms. Whenever gun owners surrender to compromise, the next argument is created for anti-gun forces that somehow the guns, or certain types of guns are the problem. We ask that all gun owners stick together ignoring tactics that are employed to divide us by firearm preference. One day they may come for revolvers and double barrel shotguns!

CCDL In The News

While the NRA remained silent for the first week after the Newtown Massacre, CCDL addressed multiple media sources days after the incident. The main reason for doing this is based on the fact that Connecticut has become ground zero for the debate over gun control. We feel that it is our duty to face the media as law abiding citizens, and stand behind the 2nd Amendment after a tragedy of this magnitude. Law abiding gun owners have been vilified and ostracized by many in the media, elected officials, and by bureaucrats for either owning certain types of firearms, or for even owning firearms at all.

Pistol Permit Issues
An important issue for CCDL is Pistol Permit Revocations and Denials. CCDL has resources available for members should they lose their permit, or be denied.
Forms for Appeals are available here: http://www.ccdl.us/resources/permit-iss ... n-decision

Another resource is Executive member Jonathan Hardy. Jonathan attends many hearings at the Board of Firearms Permit Examiners (BFPE). Should a CCDL member be in need of answers regarding the process, timeline or other matters involving board hearings, revocations or denials, Jonathan can be reached here: [email protected]
