I waited out there from 2:15AM to 5:00AM on Black Friday.

It was FREEZING out there... and guess what? $5 gift card...

My Cabelas story.

I bought my wife a Mossberg 500E .410 for Christmas this year (not from Cabelas).

I ordered 2 flats of .410 ammo, on sale from Cabelas to be "In Store Delivered"

I arrived for my pick up (one week before Christmas).
When they brought me my package, I knew IMMEDIATELY that there was a problem.
The box was big enough, but it was obvious by the way the guy was carrying it that it did not weigh enough for 2 flats of shells.

I opened the box right there and it had 2 boxes, NOT FLATS of .410 shells.

Now I am PISSED! The Customer Service Manager gets on the phone to check to see what happened.
Seems that some Christmas help in the wharehouse (God knows where that is) did not realize that 2 boxes of shells did not cost $200!!!

I demanded to see the store mananger! Ed Bartolotta, picture and name hanging on the wall right in front of me.

He showed up very quickly.
He got on the phone with the wharehouse and got the same response as the Customer Service Manager did.

Then we both headed upstairs to see if the store had what I needed in stock.
We looked on the shelves, he personally got on the computer to check what stock they had, he had 2 people run to the back to see if anything was back there.
They had plenty of boxes of HD .410 but not enough target stuff to fill my order.

With this, he said that I could have the 2 boxes for free that came in and that they would refill my order and that it would be delivered to the store by the 23rd (Before Christmas) and to save me time and the drive, he would have someone
DELIVER it to me!

On the 23rd I got an email in the morning that my order was ready for pick up.
I was busy most of the day and decided that afternoon that I would just head up there and get it. On my way up to the Store Ed (The Store Manager) called me to arrange the delivery of my package. I told him it would not be neccesary and that I was going to pick it up.

The order was OK this time.

On Tuesday the 29th, in the mail, I received a $20 cabelas voucher courtesy of Ed Bartolotta.

So when all was said and done, I had a bit of a hassle but I ended up with what I ordered and about $45 worth of FREE extras.

Not so bad!
Ed treated me fair and I will continue to shop there.

BUT I NEVER BUY GUNS THERE! Better deals are EVERYWHERE!

Never bought a gun there, or even really looked at guns there but they always seemed to be way over priced.

Sometime ill pick up some ammo there if its on sale. Some of the clothing seemed to be pretty decently priced. I hope they dont shut down.

They all went in back to discuss the guy who didn't see the "No Irish" sign.

We like Cabelas and shop there about twice a month. Its an outdoorsmans mall for us.

I got a nice rifle there a few years ago for a good price. It was in the Gun Library.

Keep in mind that I have a complete battery of guns from 1953 including pre 64 M70's and many custom rifles.

The 'custom' that I got at Cabelas is the finest one I have.

No place is perfect however Cabelas is a compliment to the outdoor sports in my view.

I have to say though, every once in awhile they DO have good deals.

I picked up a Danish Krag for $229... barreled actions with mismatched parts literally go for $300+ on the internet.

This thing has a pristine bore & action, all matching numbers, and well... I have a weird affinity for Krags in ALL incarnations (much like PaiN has his little obsession with clothed guns  ).

Albeit not complete, it was a steal at that price. Missing rear sight & handguard. Plan to drill & tap for scope.

A few years back they had a few FN HP-DA pistols for sale for about $500.
They were early 1990 production and new in the box.
I am an admitted FN fanboy so I wanted to add one to my collection of FN firearms.

The young man behind the counter at Cabela's was totally baffled that I wanted to spend $500 on this old a$$ metal gun when I could get a beautiful new Glock or M&P for the same money. I explained to him that this gun is somewhat collectable to someone who admires FNH craftsmanship. He just went on and on ad nauseum about how a Glock was a better option....
I truly believe that he was just trying to help a confused customer make a better purchase, but he clearly did not pick up on the fact that I did not show up and ask to look at "guns". I went in asking for that one pistol.

I won't bore you all with the waiting inline, paperwork, and escorted out the front door story, as it been told numerous times already.

What really took the cake is when they escorted me out the door with a Mosin Nagant I bought - while I was open carrying a Para GI 1911.

No sense.
