Just wondered what others would recommend for none +P round to carry in a 38 special. I have heard everything from standard load Buffalo Bore wadcutters. To Winchester Silver 110gr HP. Just wondering what others would recommend

158 grain wad cutters, solid lead mushrooms really well

I concur...assuming you mean the LSWC, even the WC would work, just a bit slower to chamber under duress, I suppose.. A blunt 158grainer at 1010 fps would ruin my day, I'm sure.

Sounds like that a better way to go then since Winchester and the Hydro shock are like 40 bucks a box of 50.

Yes, but I believe they are available as components.

Looks like Clays might be way to go if i wanna maximize the amount of ammo I make with powder amount.

Well, you can surely economize and get more rounds per pound of powder, but you don't get the higher velocities with Clays. It's all a matter of what you seek.

I shoot for fun so speed of the bullet to me not really a issue. I am sure also if i need it to protect myself it will put a hole in someone just as easy as a faster round.

Yes, even a HBWC at 700 fps in the face would smart!

There are only 2 rounds I loed for a specific velocity, my 9mm IDPA because I need to make power factor, and my 308 needs 2700fps to make 1000+ supersonic. Other than that, the paper does not care how fast the bullet is going.

And if honestly, if 6 rounds isn't enough, your someplace you shouldn't be anyway, run.

Also consider Alliant's Bullseye. I use it for 45 and 38 paper punching loads, without any real interest in velocity, and have been very happy with it.

Bullseye and 45 are a perfect match

Can you make it between the chrony's sensors at 1000 yards? You are good!

You can do it if you think you can

You realize he's going to need 33rnd. clips for his revolver, right? Those are his "get me home clips", as he's fighting off the hordes of bandits & raiders running the countryside.

I would honestly just buy a box of ammo to carry. I have absolutely no doubt (unlike a few tac-tards who absolutely, positively need exploding-tracer-assault-bullets) that a .38 wadcutter would leave a nasty, nasty wound. Don't load it, just buy a box, and then carry it. Odin forbidding you vaporize some violent degenerate, the last thing you would need is a prosecutor trying to turn it around on you by insinuating that you loaded a "mankiller" bullet, and all sorts of other legal mischief.

Red Dot & casts. Cheap cheap cheap. Or, just go with Win 231... that's a powder I've taken a liking to.
