Just to let folks know that the February 2011 Appleseed scheduled for Chaplin has been moved about 15 minutes away to Lebanon, CT. This is the same place we had an excellent event in January.

There is another event the same day in Colebrook CT for those in that part of the state.

State Laws to be aware of: CT does have an "Assault Weapon" Ban that is SIGNIFICANTLY MORE STRICT than the expired Federal AWB. For example, rifles are banned by name and include the "Colt AR-15" and "AK-47", among others. Semiautomatic rifles are also banned by features. However, there is no magazine capacity restriction. Please be careful with this. For a complete list of banned-by-name rifles and feature restrictions, you should check CT State laws here http://www.cga.ct.gov/2005/pub/Chap943. ... 3-202a.htm.

Misc:

Please dress accordingly and bring appropriate all-weather gear. Please also pack a light lunch. For more information on how to prepare for an Appleseed and what to bring, visit http://www.appleseedinfo.org/as_prepare.html.

For the November 19-20, 2011 event - This event will be held on HGC's pistol range and will be limited to 25m and .22lr only. The firing line is not under cover.

The State of Connecticut is rich with Revolutionary War history. Please visit http://www.connecticutsar.org/sites/index.html for a comprehensive list of historical sites to visit.

So I did an Appleseed this weekend, over all a good experience, for new shooters, there is alot of good basics to learn.

I strongly suggest you get a semi auto rifle, it makes life much easier.
