RimfireCentral.com has a section of the forum specifically for the Remington 597:

http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/fo ... dd73&f=218

Do a search there- I'm sure the swivel stud issue has been discussed. It's worth looking at in any case, lots of good info on the care and feeding of the 597.

Another option- I have a synthetic stock with studs (rear stud has integral loop) from a used 597 that I picked up. The studs were installed by the previous owner, and the job isn't factory perfect- the rear stud is slightly off-center. $30 and it's yours if there's no long delivery drive involved (I'm in the New Haven area). Let me know if you're interested.
