New Bill Authorizes IRS to Take Passports, Mandates Black Boxes in Cars Hold on to your car keys (and passports). A transportation bill which contains some bizarre requirements is making its way through Congress and is expected to become law. The Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century, or MA...

Same. Was at the shop doing the 'evil merchant of death' thing. Didn't even read about it until that same morning. And hadn't seen the after-argument at CTGuntalk either. Had I been free that day, would still have preferred more heads-up lead time. Would have loved to attend, meet up with fellow for...

Re: Saiga 12 vs. Mossberg 930

Which one is more fun to shoot? and which one is better value for money? The fun factor would be subjective. The value for money would depend on intended usage. I personally prefer a modified Saiga 12. The gas operated action is reliable and easy to clean, the design follows that of an AK47 with it...

For ammunition stockpiles, funds and safe storage space determines the maximum.

On a side note, I recall an amusing saying:

You can't have too much ammo save for two specific circumstances:
If you are drowning.
or
If you are on fire.

If I recall correctly, there was already a project which produced a working hover-capable UAV that could stay well above effective small arms range, and drop grenades and bomblets on a target. Some of the new small smart munitions even steer while falling. A larger unmanned helicopter drone made in ...

The magwell profile is also different. Hadn't checked the original mags, but as I recall hicaps from Surefire/SGM, Tapco and Promag in 5.45 will fit into a .223 Saiga, but loose, while Saiga .223 hicap mags will not fit into a Saiga 5.45 due to the front part of the magwell being tighter and more ta...

Thanks. It was very informative. Do Finnish Mosins live up to their standards ? Are they suppose to be better than Russian ones? My M39, consistently shoots in tighter groups than 91/30, so I was wondering do they change anything to make it work better? I'm no Mosin expert by any stretch of the ima...

It's always fun to get a cheap retired old warhorse and make it perform beyond expectations. A note of caution though: bragging about it could also get you in trouble. About 4 or 5 years ago, got my hands on a very nice shooting 1943 matching numbers 91/30 and imprudently blurted without thinking th...

I've always wanted to try fishing. Using braided jacketed stainless steel cable. Drop the ground line into the water, then cast as normal. When you get a bite, press a button and hold for a second. The half-million-volt stun gun, with one terminal wired into the spool and the other into the ground l...

If you're not having extraction issues, then it isn't the infamous sticky bolt syndrome. Sticky bolt is mostly caused by powder residue getting between the case and the chamber wall and wedging the cartridge case in. On the other hand, hard-chambering sounds like a headspace issue. If the bolt head ...

Mosin Nagants are great. Affordable, robust surplus battle rifles. Ammo cheaper than .223 but packs near 30-06 power. The 91/30s are much more mellow than the M44/38/T53 variants. Recoil is less harsh, and the muzzle blast is loud but manageable. I've heard of people nailing wild boars with them out...

No offense taken, assumed, or even considered. :) The vid shows a gentleman producing hydrogen from a bank or array of electrolytic cells, powered by a truck. While electrolysis of water does indeed produce hydrogen and oxygen, the efficiency of the process leaves much to be desired. Outside of the ...
