I think about 80% of VA educatioal benifits go unused and they expire 15 years after you are discharged. Most vets are too busy working to go to college full time. The GI bill pays for things like online college classes, EMT training, CDL training. It would be nice if more vets could make use of the...

Using Post 9/11 GI Bill for Firearms Training

Here is what I learned about using Post 9/11 GI Bill Educational Benefits for firearms training at the Sig Sauer Academy. It is a simple process and with SIG you don’t have to pay them up front for the tuition. I got less than expected for “supplies” but it is prorated based on using a total $1000 a...

Just an update – I mentioned in my write-up that SIG Academy had no official course feedback system. About 3 weeks after the class was over I received an email with a link asking me to fill out a survey. I completed the survey and made some recommendations, one of which was to update information con...

I tried to call the state police help line, busy for hours. I have some 80% I need to register? Any help would be appreciated.

I used my Post 911 GI Bill education benefits for this class. When the paperwork is done and all payments are made I will post about the process of using the GI bill to pay for this type of class.

Gear for any 2 gun course.

Just some thoughts on gear that I would think would apply to any class where a pistol is used in combination with a rifle or shotgun. - I started with a classic instructor’s belt to which I had mounted: Serpa holster for pistol (3 o’clock), Maxpedition dump pouch (5 o’clock), Single Bladetech AR pou...

FOX 61 News coverage of opening day Deer gun season

I'm not sure if any of you watched FOX 61 news yesterday and the coverage of opening day. It was a complete hit job on hunting only showing old footage of people shooting from cars, truck and other illegal acts, most likely not even filmed in CT. I commented on the FOX 61 news site about the story a...

So how do 80% lowers fit into the new gun law?

Hunting in Connecticut with a Crop Damage Permit
Cool, never heard of that, did I read the rules right 1 Jan through 31 OCT? I guess there is a real need to reduce the heard, especally with crop damage. Good luck hunting!

So what state are you hunting? I thought gun season didn't open until Nov?

Not sure but he was (is?) pro death penalty during the trial. I can't imagine him not having a gun now with new wife and baby.

Funny tha the article is about steel cased ammo but says the rapid wear is due to the bi-metal bullets. So steel case ammo loaded with quality bullets like Hornady Steel Match would not cause any rapid wear?

My coworkers are planning frantic ammo buying before 1 OCT

So one of my coworkers just asked me about the new gun laws. I said that the Shi# was about to hit the fan when everybody finds out that they will need a permit to purchase ammo on 1 OCT. He was clueless and said he was going to Cabelas this weekend. Word spread around the floor fast. I've had sever...

Repeat of 94 ban. Can't carry a "wonder nine" so I'll carry a 1911/45, very common back in the day and my plan now.
