Hm that's odd. In RI, you can buy a long gun and pick it up there after their waiting period (7 days?).

Depends for me. I'll clean my Taurus PT145 right after I shoot with it, only because that thing gets so frickin' dirty. On the otherhand, I'll go a copy of shooting trips before I'll clean it. Same for my rifles with the exception of my M44, especially if I shoot corrosive surplus out of it.

That family is messed up to say the least. Regardless, I don't think having a champagne party and having your attorneys flippin' off the cameras is the best way to celebrate the findings. I dunno, that just seemed really, really low.

Why are you surprised, they REALLY DON'T want you to have it in the first place. This. When I went to get my permit application in my town, the dispatcher couldn't find them. She claimed that they were "moved" since the last time someone came in for one. Yeah. Ok. Had to go back a few day...

My gut instinct is that its a two-fold reason. One, because of our regs pertaining to NORINCO and any Chinese arms, they would never be added to the list (much like how the AK47 can never be added) i.e. political reasons. The second is because of the definition of what a C&R weapon is. According...

You didnt ask this, but IMNHO all the aftermarket detachable SKS mags are crap and you'll never see one on one of my SKSs. I'd rather have 10 reliable rounds in a stripper clip then 20-30 in a mag that doesnt feed reliably. Agreed. After I bought my SKS back in '06 I bought one of those "detac...

Good question. Does the fact that the SKS was never originally designed to accept detachable magazines play into account?

Edited because I just caught that I put "rounds" instead of "magazines".

Gonna send mine out today. Is everyone just kind of saying how we oppose it? Should I include anything else other than that? Not that I want to copy what others have said, its just my first time contacted "My" elected officials....

Edit: Punctuation

I think this is in tandem with the registration bill. If registration is mandatory, then the cops will have some idea of what you got a search your stuff just to make sure. You know, not like we have protections from this stuff in the Bill of Rights...

You know, the above post kinda hits home here. I'm a Senior in college right now (finishing my last semester), and I'm looking for jobs in free states. I mean, lets face it, the job market isn't that great here to begin with. But you know, with asinine legislation like this in the pike, it really is...
