http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?topic=17432.0 Just to let folks know that the February 2011 Appleseed scheduled for Chaplin has been moved about 15 minutes away to Lebanon, CT. This is the same place we had an excellent event in January. There is another event the same day in Colebrook CT for...

Today - February 4th, home defense and high cap magazines

Does anyone know the result of the joint judiciary committee meeting today on items 16 and 55 on the agenda? It was to discuss whether to move forward with two proposed bills on clarifying the use of deadly force in the home, and banning high capacity magazines for handguns and rifles.

Thanks!

For those of you who attended the Blue Trail Range Appleseed (pumpkinseed) shoot this weekend, thanks for coming out and helping to fill the line. Good to see you there!

Saturday in Simsbury was a blast, lots of people went from shotgun groups to tight groups in the first few hours of instruction. Many of us are waking up a little sore and tight from all the time in prone but boy is it worth it. BTW, my son and I have a pair of 795s and we love them. Inexpensive, ge...

For all the "trouble" I got, I prepared myself before going to buy my rifles this time. I called the DPS before I left for the store, told them what happened the last time, and the guy from DPS (Jeff) told me that if they gave me a hard time again just to let them know that they should ask...

For the first time ever, I have been denied the purchase of a firearm and it has made me really angry. I am a U.S. Citizen, and have been for 28 years. However today when trying to purchase a Marlin 795 for an upcoming Appleseed event I was denied by the State Police when the dealer called in to do ...

I know I am late to respond, but Hoffman's only lets you shoot store bought ammo in their range. It doesn't matter if it is your gun or not. You must show an empty gun upon entering the range and put all ammo inside a blue plastic box.

As a Christmas present, my wife just bought me a years membership at New Departure. She sent in the application in mail today (apparently), so hopefully we'll be first in line. They definitely don't allow guests, it is written all over the application that no guests are permitted, and only members, ...

Concealed carry in a vehicle - confusing!

 by fprintf ¦  Sat May 30, 2009 8:42 pm ¦  Forum: Legislation ¦  Topic: Concealed carry in a vehicle - confusing! ¦  Replies: 3 ¦  Views: 3794

I read on http://www.cga.ct.gov/2007/rpt/2007-R-0369.htm that it is illegal to carry a loaded weapon and in a place accessible from the passenger compartment. I have recently heard from three separate people that it is OK to carry a concealed weapon in a vehicle as long as it is on my person. To dat...

I am the new owner of a P226 .22LR and my 9mm conversion kit just arrived in the mail. I *love* the gun in the .22 and it is as accurate as anything I could hope for. The 9MM looks to be pretty high quality, though I will have to spend some more money on the gun to get some extra magazines ($$$$!) s...

WalMart 100 rds now up to $20!

 by fprintf ¦  Sat May 16, 2009 1:07 pm ¦  Forum: Announcements ¦  Topic: AMMO!!!! ¦  Replies: 21 ¦  Views: 4089

So the price of Ammo is now going up. The Southington WalMart had target loads priced at $19.87 for 100 round bulk boxes (e.g. just rounds in a big box without carriers). Funny thing, as much as I like JoJo's, their price was $29.95 for the same thing. What a ripoff at both places, but what are you ...

Thanks SigFan, wouldn't you know I ran into your thread shortly after posting. Now I need to go check out Meriden Shooting Club and Hamden Fish & Game club (though that is a bit shotgun oriented for me).

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. I have shot the gun a few times so far and it has been a blast, pardon the pun. I have just enough money now to order my 9mm kit. Unfortunately I found out last weekend that New Departure is not accepting any more new members. I guess shooting has gotten really ...
