New Barrel Break In

by GerryB ¦  Tue Feb 23, 2016 2:12 pm ¦  Forum: General Firearm Discussion ¦  Topic: New Barrel Break In ¦  Replies: 2 ¦  Views: 1584

OK folks, I have a new Savage Bolt Action rifle in .223 Rem and I'm looking for input on barrel break-in procedure for best accuracy. I know this can start a lively discussion so let the games begin. I'm not a hunter, I'm a paper poker if that matters. Thanks in advance.

Brian, while I feel your frustration, like everyone is asking, why did you apply if you know there was a recorded incident? That's what a background check is all about. I thank you for your service, but being in the service doesn't override the due diligence they must do. I hope it doesn't make any ...

Hey CTSixshot, they didn't work too well. I still have some from when I got them from you back in 2013. In my clean pistol, a lot them didn't feed correctly. A problem you warned me about from the beginning. My 1911/magazine combo has some issues. Some work just fine, others just can't seem to make ...

Rich, was your post referring to something else? Its just a castle nut to tighten on the M&P 15.-22.

I was in Cabela's (East Hartford) the other night and they told me I could buy up to 1200 rounds of .22LR now. And they had choices of bricks available. Just passing it along...

Hey folks, I've been struggling with accuracy problems with my Smith and Wesson M&P 15-22. After many wasted shots, range time, and 5 different scopes... After discussing it with my boss (a trained armorer), we have determined that the barrel nut is loose. I just ordered a wrench and vise jaws s...

I concur with CTSixshot. Welcome to the group. I'm sure it's slow due to no one wanting to venture out in the snow and cold. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! I took my pistols to the outdoor range Saturday and froze my butt off. But on the other hand if any of you new guys like reloads, CTSix...

And the advantage of the low profile is??? The only people that would see it are forum readers. The ones trying to communicate between themselves. I just find it irritating. Just my .02 cents.

I agree with your thoughts Sebring. I've asked myself the same thing many times. It would make some buying decisions a lot easier. I think it's dumb not to put at least a rough location in the profile. What are you guys hiding from?
